3. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:


3.1 Candidates for all positions will submit a written application. Personal interviews and verbal or written references will supplement the information provided by the applicant. All applicants will submit a recent printout from the Department of Motor Vehicles at their own costs. Employees must maintain a driving record acceptable to the current Manteca CAPS insurance carrier.

3.2 Applicants must submit a clear physical examination with TB clearance for work at no cost to the employee. The examination must be performed not more than one year prior to or seven days after initial presence in the facility. CAPS will require job applicants to submit to our prescribed drug or substance abuse testing. All offers of employment are contingent upon the satisfactory completion of the above tests.

3.3 All applicants offered employment and volunteers with direct contact with consumers will be required to obtain a Department of Justice fingerprint clearance at no cost to the employee. Starting work or volunteering cannot take place until clearance is received.


3.6.1 CLASS B: If the applicant is being employed to work in a position which requires a Class B Driver's License, the license must be obtained by the end of the first sixty (60) days of employment. Initial medical exam for DMV will be provided by Manteca CAPS at no cost to employee. Failure to obtain and/or maintain the insurable license may result in termination. Training of employee will be provided by Manteca CAPS. Cost of Class B Driver License will be reimbursed to employee. Manteca CAPS will pay the lesser of either the co-pay of own doctor or refer you to CAPS' doctor for subsequent Class B medical tests. It is the responsibility of the employee to show the Administration the new license.


3.6.2 If required, CPR and FIRST AID certification must be obtained by the end of the first sixty (60) days of employment. Time Adjustments for weekend classes must be pre-approved by supervisor. CPR and FIRST AID tuition costs will be reimbursed on presentation of receipts.

JOB DESCRIPTION


JOB TITLE: Instructor in ABLE (Assisted Behavior Learning Environment) program, a.k.a. BMP (Behavior Management Program)


LINE OF AUTHORITY
  • Works in cooperation with other Instructors.
  • Is responsible to the Program Director.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working with people with developmental disabilities and general knowledge of Developmental Disabilities.
  • Genuine care and compassion for others.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Ability to lift or support consumers.
  • Must be able to obtain a California class B Driver’s license within sixty (60) days from date of hire.
  • Must be able to clear Physical Examination including TB clearance for work, California Department of Justice finger printing clearance, drug testing and DMV background search.
  • Must be Able to obtain CPR, First Aid, PART training within six (6) months from date oh hire.
  • Able to work under stress


EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in developing and documenting program plans, tracking and reporting mechanism.
  • Experience helping implement behavioral interventions with the developmentally disabled.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and document individual and group student educational, program plans tracking and reporting mechanism.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new training skills.
  • Willingness to commit to full time position.


RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Develops group schedules, procedures and extra curricular activities.
  2. Provides safety to consumers at all times including physical assistance when requested or necessary.
  3. Participates in consumer’s Individual Service Plan (ISP) development consumer programs.
  4. Helps conduct consumer assessments with accuracy.
  5. Understand instructions and is able to meet changing conditions. Can withstand pressure and is able to remain calm in crisis situation.
  6. Has a talent for having new ideas, finding new and better ways of doing things and is imaginative.
  7. Has the ability to do required tasks well with a minimum of supervision.
  8. Maintains a proper personal appearance such as cleanliness, grooming, neatness and appropriateness of dress on the job.
  9. Maintain a neat, clean, orderly room environment, and properly uses and cares for all equipment.
  10. Is dependable, keeps a good attendance, is faithful in coming to work daily, on time and conforms to work hours.
  11. Follows the Code of Conduct.
  12. Is able to work consistently with only moderate fatigue.
  13. Conducts individual and group training sessions for all consumers and monitors room activities.
  14. Is a team player and is able to take and give constructive criticism.
  15. Helps develop and maintain data and documents on consumer’s goals and progress in a timely and accurate manner as defined in ISPs.
  16. Participates in in-service training and staff meetings.
  17. Transports consumers as required.
  18. Help perform behavior analysis with assigned consumers.
  19. Help implement behavioral management strategies with all consumers.
  20. Helps contain assaultive consumers when necessary.
  21. Supervises and stays engaged to assigned consumers at all times during programming.
  22. Other tasks as assigned.
